🛡️ Safe Standoff Explorer

For accidental-explosion civil protection planning — the kind used around fuel storage, industrial gas facilities, and hazardous material sites. Change the accidental charge weight and the damage threshold you're protecting against, and watch the required safe standoff distance respond live.

🔒 Scope: Civil-protection / accidental-explosion planning only (same scope as this platform's Peak Overpressure and Reflected Pressure calculators). No weapon-effects or penetration content — this tool exists to help set safe distances, not to analyze attacks.

Required safe distance
Scaled distance Z
This simulation uses the exact same bisection solver (engine/blast.jssafeStandoffForOverpressure) used in this platform's Safe Standoff calculator — independently re-verified before publishing against a hand-computed reference case (target=7 kPa, W=100 kg → Z=13.2794, R=61.64 m, exact match). Method: Kinney & Graham (1985) empirical correlation, not the exact UFC 3-340-02/Kingery-Bulmash curve — best accuracy roughly 0.5<Z<40.

Method

ScalingZ = R / W^(1/3) — Hopkinson-Cranz cube-root scaling (UFC 3-340-02, public release).
OverpressureKinney & Graham (1985) empirical fit for free-air side-on overpressure, inverted by bisection to solve for R at a target ΔP.
