BS EN 1992-1-1/NA — Shear Without Shear Reinforcement

VRd,c to Eq.(6.2.a) and Eq.(6.2.b) · size effect factor k · longitudinal reinforcement ratio ρl · axial force effect σcp

⚠ Beta — verify the National Annex values

The EN 1990 combination expressions are well documented. γG, γQ, ξ and the ψ factors are Nationally Determined Parameters and have not been checked against the official UK National Annex.

CRd,c and vmin: UK NA values not confirmed

The engine applies the EN recommended forms CRd,c = 0.18/γc and vmin = 0.035·k1.5·√fck. Whether the UK NA departs from these could not be verified. Unlike αcc, where the UK position is widely reported, there is no dependable figure here.

Calculation steps

Shear reinforcement — not implemented

If VEd > VRd,c, shear reinforcement is required and must be designed by the variable strut inclination method (§6.2.3). That needs the strut angle θ chosen within the National Annex limits, together with ν₁ and αcw — all NDPs that could not be verified. Not implemented in this version.

Preliminary calculation tool. Final design requires the full official text of BS EN 1990 with its UK National Annex and review by a suitably qualified engineer.
