Method
OrderEscalation is added to the earned amount; retention and advance recovery come off that same base; the cumulative already paid is subtracted last. The sequence is stated rather than buried because contracts do vary in both the order and the base.
Cumulative basisEach period pays the difference between what has been earned to date and what has already been paid. “Previous payments” must therefore be the sum of net amounts already paid — entering gross figures subtracts retention twice.
Over-paymentIf the previous cumulative exceeds what has been earned, the period is negative — a recovery. That is shown as a warning rather than quietly returned as a negative number.
ConfidenceLevel A for the arithmetic. Rates and the order of deductions come from your contract, not from this tool. Taxes, withholding and penalty clauses are not modelled.
Estimation tool only. Actual progress payments depend on your specific contract terms (retention schedule, advance payment recovery, price escalation, taxes) which are not modeled here.
