Representative Standoff Distances — UFC 4-010-01, Appendix C

Planning standoff for conventional construction by level of protection, wall type, explosive weight and load-bearing condition, with roof, window and minimum standoff — UFC 4-010-01 (12 December 2018, Change 3, 24 May 2024), Tables C-1 to C-4.

Threat and construction

Tabulated weights: 55, 220, 550, 1 100, 4 400 and 19 800 lb (25, 100, 250, 500, 2 000 and 9 000 kg). Other weights use the next larger tabulated weight.

Solid lines: UFC table values. Dashed: recommended monotone envelope where a lower level lists a larger standoff. Logarithmic axes.

Expeditionary structures — Table C-6

Standoff (Table C-6)—

All 96 cells parsed from the document and checked against the printed metre values; 28 cells are "No Data Available". Findings: 4 400 lb / Low / TEMPER tents prints 447 ft but (145 m) = 476 ft — the larger is used; the weight labels print "220 lbs (25 kg)" and "1100 lbs (550 kg)" (should be 100 kg and 500 kg). Unlike Tables C-1 to C-4, Table C-6 never lists a smaller standoff for a higher level of protection.

UFC 4-010-01DoD Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings, 12 December 2018, Change 3 (24 May 2024), Appendix C, Tables C-1 to C-4 (public domain). Values parsed programmatically from the document and cross-checked against the printed metre values.
FindingsFour roof cells print feet and metre values that disagree (two metre values match the window row below); the larger value is used. For three wall types at the two largest weights, a higher level of protection lists a smaller standoff than a lower level — physically a stricter level cannot need less standoff, so the monotone envelope is recommended alongside the UFC value.
